Phone accessories

The Samsung Galaxy Note. The best phone in the world - with a stylus.

Is it considered "hipster" to go back to having a stylus, it being retro and all? All things considered I don't have much other chance to be hipster. Not that I want to. ...Just a side note. Nevermind.

And now, for just $60, you can make writing and drawing easier, with the new...

Pen-thing-you-can-fit-your-stylus-into-for-only-a-lot-of-money-that-is-awesome!
Henceforth known as pen-thing

...

Okay now that I've shown you how cool it is and told you how expensive it is, here's my turn to gloat about how cheap I got it and anti-establishment I am this is my take on the pen-thing! :)

Estimated cost: $2

Hah Samsung!

Wise words from a lecturer at med school when explaining structure and function:

Think of the best way to possibly make something so that it works - and that's how it is.

T-shirt Art

It was the holidays, and I decided for some reason that it would be a great idea to draw on a t-shirt. A bottle of t-shirt paint, a paint brush and a cheap t-shirt later,
(plus a whole lot of air-drying, ironing, repainting, ironing etc.)

It's harder than I thought it would be, and stencils are really hard to make. I'm pretty happy tho. :)

T-shirts are the new paper :P

First Lessons

I don't know if it's something that hits you as they start teaching you stuff in med school, or something they've subtly tried to ingrain into us, but that's the impression I'm getting.

... I suppose that's a good thing?

Samsung Galaxy Doodle In Class

New phone. It's pretty and HD (what ever that means these days) and works the way you'd think a high end phone would, but it's massive and just barely fits into your pocket, and after texting for too long you feel like you've had a finger/palm workout.

And it has a stylus.
No wait - BUT it has a stylus!
With which you can use to do things like open up a drawing app and doodle away~

I'm discovering the joys of digital drawing - you really can do things you wouldn't normally get to with traditional drawing tools. Plus, I didn't spill black and brown paint all over my carpet.

I think I like my new toy-phone. :)

Busking

For the first time!

Lots of people actually paused for a while to look, and some stopped to ask what it was. And there are those passing comments of "hey that's cool" and "oh look - that's different ey". Not many people dropped coins in though.
But for a drizzling Friday afternoon, I got $6.50 in half an hour. That's a bit better than minimum wage I guess.

It wasn't as bad as I imagined it would be... And I had Amanda to sit with me and keep me company.
I think I'll do it again. :)

Back to StudyLand

Summer vacation... Not much to say about that, really. You know, normal stuff. Going on holiday, being with family, meeting friends... I'm not much of a food reporter or a travel blogger kinda guy, and all you'll hear me say about that over here is "food's great" and "holiday's fun". I'll miss my family, but to be honest it's kind of a good thing the holidays are coming to an end... Sloth and Gluttony are already constantly nagging me to come over to the dark side - not that I've resisted much and been very useful lately. I call it resting.

The only thing that bugs me is that I haven't actually read the books I thought I'd have plenty of time to read this holiday (I did have time, I've just achieved an exceptionally high mastery of the art of procrastination), and I thought I'd have the time to let loose creatively and doodle all over the stagnant blog page you see below. I feel bad for my sake that I've left my blog sitting there for so long - I think of it almost as if it was something of a duty to myself to write or post in here. Writing has kind of lost it's appeal though. I feel as though by being overly wordy I can compensate for intelligence, and by using needlessly complicated expressions I can uphold the façade of deep insightful thought. I think I'm kind of self-conscious when it comes to writing. Sounding stupid in black and white words is undefendable, but nobody can say I'm stupid from a drawing - at the most they can critisize my art, but that's what they all said about Pablo Picasso at first, right?

...Okay to be honest I don't know if anyone ever said anything like that about Picasso. But I digress.

I think maybe the main reason writing here has lost it's appeal is because I have a better reason to write nowadays. Or rather, an audience I know is always receptive. :) Except she's nowhere online now and it's too early in the morning there right now and- Nevermind.

Back to Kiwi Land tomorrow. One of the checkpoints that mark the fact that the new year has indeed started (a long time ago, in fact) is the start of a new study term. I probably won't realise it's the second month of the year already if it wasn't for that. Is it too late to start with the new year resolutions?

Elephant Boogers

Why do gorillas have big nostrils?
Because they have big fingers!

:D

...What about the poor elephants then?

Oxymorons

...these do classify as oxymorons, right?

I admit I don't produce the most stellar jokes
and that since I can't replicate the same characters over a couple of panels, I resort to drawing stickmen - and not incredibly pretty ones at that.

But the 'great reveal + zoom in' scenes are fun to draw.  :D

On another note
Consider this an attempt to pay back the blog debt I've been accumulating.
:)

... I need a 'c ya later' line to use. Like PEACE OUT(!) or something.
Yeah. Anyways.
Bye.

Not quite the same

It worked for his cousin...

Maybe it only works on little kids

Just felt like drawing random little dinosaurs today.
